Alkaline refers to substances that have a pH greater than 7 on the pH scale, which ranges from 0 to 14. A pH above 7 = Alkaline, 7 = Neutral, and under 7 = Acidic.

Alkalizing means the process or effect of making something more alkaline. It implies the ability of certain foods to influence your body’s pH levels toward the alkaline side. Alkalizing foods include fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

For gout, it’s beneficial to consume alkalizing foods as they help make urine less acidic by raising its pH. This, in turn, increases the excretion of uric acid through urine, helping to prevent build up and crystalization in joints.
